Chicago’s DMK Restaurants will open a new concept in the historic hotel.
Out with the old, in with the new. Hotel Phillips owner Arbor Lodging Partners announced DMK Restaurants will develop a new restaurant concept in the hotel, which will replace current in-house restaurant 12 Baltimore.
Chicago-based DMK was founded by industry veteran David Morton and five-time James Beard Award nominee Chef Michael Kornick of Chicago’s acclaimed mk restaurant.
“We like to dream big, and there’s no bigger dream than partnering with DMK Restaurants,” co-founder and CEO of Arbor Lodging Partners Vamsi Bonthala said in a statement. “The vibrant nightlife and dining scene in Kansas City is ripe for a fresh new restaurant concept and we are thrilled to be part of this venture with a company the caliber of DMK Restaurants.”
The new restaurant’s concept will be revealed in coming months.
“We have a passion for food and restaurants, and we’re excited to embark on our first hotel venture with Arbor Lodging Partners,” Morton said. “The dining experience we’re creating will have a timeless sensibility but a comfortable and approachable feel. It will be a place to gather after work or celebrate with friends and family. With the spectacular Hotel Phillips as a backdrop, we can’t wait to introduce the concept to the people of Kansas City.”
Arbor Lodging Partners acquired Hotel Phillips in October 2015 and is renovating the property, though its historic roots and Art Deco aesthetic will remain intact, company principal Sheenal Patel told us earlier this year. Once the updates are complete, the hotel will become part of Curio by Hilton, a collection of unique hotels around the world.
