Sizzling Summer Menu Updates

Get a first taste of new additions joining the lineup at local restaurants.

Bristol Seafood Grill’s downtown and Leawood locations just debuted five new seafood dishes: smoked salmon carpaccio and shrimp ceviche; hickory char crust sea scallops; lemongrass shrimp tacos; togarashi salmon; and an ahi tuna Tuscan salad. Also joining the menu are refreshing cocktails. The Ginger Pear Whiskey features house-infused white whisky and White Ginger Pear Tea Forté while the Chamomile Sour melds rye whiskey with Chamomile Citron Tea Forte.

RA Sushi’s seasonal menu turns up the heat with edamame served with wasabi soy sauce and the watermelon shrimp roll finished with jalapeno oil. Other dishes on the menu, served through September, are the samurai sampler—sweet and spicy pork ribs and shrimp skewered and served over baby bok choy, steamed rice and mango salsa—and chicken katsu tacos, along with three refreshing cocktails.

You’ll find much more to enjoy than basic bar bites at Julep. The Westport whiskey bar’s food menu will soon include items such as bourbon chicken with jambalaya wild rice, a Hot Brown made using Farm to Market sourdough and duck pastrami, and cornbread gnocchi with purple potato and chive. Thirteen other menu items are also set to debut.

SPIN! Pizza combines its signature food with KC’s favorite summer cuisine for trio of BBQ pizzas. The Burnt Ends and Caramelized Onions pizza is topped with spicy Calabrian peppers and fresh mozzarella along with barbecue sauce while the Spicy Calabrian Shrimp pizza features shrimp, roasted potatoes, Calabrian peppers, and fresh mozzarella. For vegetable lovers, there’s a Bellas & Veggies BBQ pizza covered with roasted portabella mushrooms, roasted corn, roasted red peppers and Calabrian peppers. All are available as 12-inch pies or as personal side pizzas. SPIN! locations are also introducing Grown-Up Floats with hard sodas poured tableside over a scoop of Tahitian Vanilla gelato (kid friendly versions are also available). For sangria fans, the restaurants’ new Summerberry, Pineapple Peach Basil and Watermelon Mint flavors are sure to pique interest.

Café Trio is already a summer favorite thanks to its topnotch patio, and now there’s even more reason to pay a visit. The restaurant’s new menu marks the return of the diner-favorite Café Trio Reuben and adds halibut, rack of lamb, shrimp paella, pulled pork sliders and shrimp kabobs.

KC-headquartered Houlihan’s mixes things up with the addition of five menu items and five cocktails. Now through September, munch on avocado toast topped with burrata cheese; crispy BBQ carnitas lettuce wraps; tilapia with citrus crab salad; grilled or fried Korean chicken with charred pineapple brown rice and garlic green beans; and bucatini marinara. Seasonal cocktail offerings include The Blue Taboo, a tiki cocktail featuring Owl’s Brew, a handcrafted tea mixer, and the Cucumber Mint Refresher combining fresh ingredients, gin, and Prosecco.

Bravo! Cucina Italiana revamped its culinary offerings to feature chef-inspired ingredients. Among the highlights are linguine carbonara, baked rigatoni Bolognese, tomato basil linguine, shrimp and clam arrabiata, citrus marinated chicken and grilled lamb chops. But dessert just might steal the show: Joining the lineup is a warm cookie butter blondie topped with vanilla bean gelato, drizzled with cookie butter caramel and garnished with sugared pretzels. The restaurant, which has locations in Zona Rosa and Town Center Plaza, also offers customizable lunch combos and drink specials Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
