Q39 expands its midtown restaurant and announces a new Overland Park location.
Johnson County fans of Q39 soon won’t have to drive to 39th Street for the restaurant’s barbecue. Owner Rob Magee announced a new location will open in spring 2017 at 11051 Antioch Road in the former Hayward’s Pit BBQ space.
The building will undergo a complete interior and exterior renovation including new landscaping and a new parking lot. The restaurant’s interior will resemble the original location and include a dining area with more than 200 seats, a full-service outdoor dining area with seating for up to 104 guests, a private dining area, full-service bar, large Q2GO carryout area and a glass-windowed butcher room.
The original Q39 is also set for an expansion on the heels of its second anniversary. The space directly west of the restaurant will be transformed into a large deck and indoor-outdoor bar covered by a water-tight pergola. The expansion will create 48 full-service outdoor seats during warm weather. On the interior, a second bar and 50 additional seats will be added. Construction begins late summer and will be completed by early fall.
