KC Networking Calendar: January

Make new connections at these upcoming networking events.

Jan. 7: KC Young Professionals Happy Hour

Kansas City Young Professionals’ monthly happy hour gets a twist. Presented by SocialHeart, tonight’s networking event takes place before a UMKC Kangaroos Men’s Basketball Game. For $10, you get a ticket to the game and access to a hospitality area inside Municipal Auditorium for cocktails and connections 5:30-7 p.m., with a portion of ticket sales going to support R.U.B.I.E.S., Inc. and its mission to educate, equip and empower underserved girls with the knowledge and skills to succeed in college, career and community.

Jan. 13: After-Hours Networking

Enjoy a last glimpse of the Country Club Plaza’s lights at Leawood Chamber of Commerce’s after-hours event at CBIZ MHM LLC 5-6:30 p.m. Members get in free; the cost is $15 for non-members.

Jan. 13: Wednesday Wake Up

One way to avoid the mid-week blues: casual mingling, breakfast foods and a chance to win door prizes at the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce’s Wednesday Wake Up. Free for members and $10 for non-members, the event is 8-9 a.m. at Centra Care Shawnee Mission Urgent Care.

Jan. 20: Progressive Power Hour

Networking gets the speed dating treatment at the Lenexa Chamber’s event at Crowne Plaza 5-6:30 p.m. as participants share their backgrounds and business goals with three different sets of table mates. Light appetizers and drinks from the cash bar help take the edge off.

Jan. 20: January TechTalk

Women in KC’s tech scene can network with fellow professionals working to make an impact at KC Women in Technology’s January Tech Talk 6-8 p.m. at the Google Fiber Event Space. The free evening also includes info on the organization’s programs such as Coding and Cocktails, CoderDojoKC, Coding and Cupcakes KC, and Tech sHeros.

Jan. 21: Wine & Cheese with YNPNkc

Say cheese 5-7 p.m. with Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Kansas City’s tour of Kansas City Public Television studios. Following the tour, a profession photographer will snap headshots, yours to keep after enjoying cocktails and networking in KCPT’s event space.

Jan. 22: Referral and Resource Breakfast

Struggling to get referrals? Central Exchange’s fourth Friday breakfast networking group lets you share your story, ask for referrals and help others with their businesses. Held 8-9:30 a.m. at Central Exchange South, the breakfast is free for members and $30 for non-members.

Jan. 28: Business After Hours

Bring your business cards and make new contacts at the KCK Chamber’s January Business After Hours gathering at Great Wolf Lodge 4:30-7 p.m. The free event includes complimentary food and drinks, plus a tour of Great Wolf Lodge and info on its meeting and events spaces.
