The Force Awakens at Prairiefire

Prairiefire celebrates the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” with deals.

The moment fans have been waiting years for is finally here: “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens Dec. 17, and Prairiefire is turning into Star Wars central in honor of the occasion.

Tickets are still available for showtimes Thursday, Friday and throughout the weekend at Cinetopia, where a sold-out marathon of all seven movies started in the wee hours of Thursday morning. For the most out-of-this-world viewing experience, grab a seat in the GXL auditoriums, which feature four-story tall, 75-feet wide screens, 4K projection and Dolby Atmos 128 channel sound.

But Prairiefire isn’t just showing the movie, it’s inviting fans to enjoy other themed specials. No need to change out of your costume for a trip to the Museum at Prairiefire; visitors Dec. 17-18 who come dressed up will receive free admission to its current exhibition, “The Horse,” as part of the museum’s May “The Horse” Be With You promotion. Keep your ticket stub handy and bring it to Fat Brain Toys for a free gift Dec. 18-24, and stop by Pinstripes Dec. 17-23 to receive a free game of bowling or bocce.

At Fresh Market Café, show up in costume or with your ticket stub to receive a free Tummy Yummy drink Dec. 17, a free bag of Pirate’s Booty popcorn or Crispy Greens dried fruit Dec. 18, buy-one-get-one-free entrees Dec. 19 and buy-one-get-one hot dogs or a $5 hot dog meal deal Dec. 20. Specials are also available for those who don Star Wars T-shirts rather than full costume, with 10 percent off any purchase Dec. 17 and a free fountain drink and 10 percent off Dec. 18.

Sip $6 Star Wars drink specials at Rock & Brews, including the Princess Leia, made with Southern Comfort, amaretto, simple syrup and orange juice; the Han Solo, featuring bourbon, gin, rum, triple sec, vodka and sweet and sour; and the C-3PO, a mix of peach and peppermint schnapps, triple sec, orange juice and pineapple juice. Come in costume to score a free pretzel.
