How the Baldwins Do Vogue

Being one of 10 finalists vying for a big prize from the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund has its perks.

Matt Baldwin and kids Rivington, Henley and Rogan appear in the November issue of Vogue alongside family friend and actor Jason Sudeikis (often spotted wearing the label’s designs) and model Kendall Jenner.

“Being in the middle of the country really let us pull ideas from everywhere—and everybody,” Baldwin told Vogue.

The spread, photographed by Gregory Harris, celebrates all of this year’s finalists, who showed their work at a star-studded runway show at Chateau Marmont Oct. 20.

Each year, the fund to support emerging American fashion talent awards three designers—one winner who receives $300,000 and two runner-ups who receive $100,000 as well as mentorships by established designers and industry executives. The winners will be announced Nov. 2.

Shortly after Baldwin was announced as a finalist, the designer spoke to us about the competition, which includes participating in special design and advertising challenges.

“I have a new job, which is cool,” Baldwin said. “It’s so amazing to go through the process. It’s awesome. I’m having a blast.”

The months of challenges and travelling on top of his normal responsibilities are “just sort of par for the Baldwin course. We see something ahead of us that’s there and we just go after it.”
