5 Ways to Get a Taste of Fall

Enjoy pumpkin goodies this season, no trip to Starbucks required.

Fall is officially upon us, and while it’s not quite sweater weather yet, there’s no need to wait for one of the season’s high points: pumpkin everything. While the flavor craze has gotten a bit of a bad rap in recent years, these local iterations don’t disappoint.

Parisi’s Pumpkin Caramel Latte

When we think seasonal drinks, we think Parisi, which changes up its menu with new drinks and bakery items every few months. Sip a pumpkin caramel latte, made with locally grown pumpkins that are spiced, roasted and infused into the shops’ housemade caramel sauce for autumn in a cup, then take it a step farther with a pumpkin mascarpone croissant. (Other new additions include honey cinnamon lattes, cascara colas, cinnamon croissant rolls, gingersnap cookies, blueberry brown sugar muffins, apple cheddar scones and salted pecan toffee brownies.)

Charisse’s Pumpkin Beer Dinner

For those who like their pumpkin with a little alcoholic edge, Charisse’s September 30th beer dinner is a perfect way to welcome fall. The five-course meal features dishes such as sweet potato gnocchi, butternut squash bucatini and pumpkin bread pudding, each paired with a boozy pumpkin beverage. Dolce Bakery’s Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

Fall in love with Dolce Bakery’s fall menu, which includes mini pumpkin cheesecake tarts, pumpkin spice cake and more. Mark your calendar for the bakery’s 8th anniversary party Thursday, October 1, when the piece de resistance takes center stage: pumpkin whoopie pies, paired with spicy cider taken up a notch thanks to Little Freshie Spicy Ginger Syrup and J. Rieger & Co. Kansas City Whiskey.

Ruby Jean’s Juicery’s Pumpkin Smoothie

Although it often makes an appearance in less-than-healthy menu items, pumpkin is, in fact a fruit. Sip up the health benefits with Grandma’s Pie, a smoothie soon joining the roster at Ruby Jean’s Juicery. It’s the perfect excuse to check out the juicery, which recently opened in Westport.

Pumpkin Scones from Coffee Girl’s Cafe

Start your morning with a fresh-baked treat from Waldo’s Coffee Girl’s Cafe, where pumpkin season is being celebrated with a trifecta of goodies: pumpkin bread, muffins and scones. We’re particularly excited about the latter paired with a cup of coffee—naturally adding homemade pumpkin syrup is an option.
