Some of Kansas City’s favorite trendsetters and tastemakers share their love of what to taste, see, do and sip.
Story by Kathryn Greene
With a nod to KC Magazine Executive Editor Katie Van Luchene’s popular pocket travel guide, Insiders’ Guide to Kansas City (now in its fourth edition), we went in search of our own City’s Best: a 10-person panel to give us the scoop, the low-down, the 4-1-1, on where they eat, drink, shop and play.
Although each member of our dynamic panel has a different spin on Kansas City, there is a common thread: Whether you’re a native Kansas Citian or a transplant from near or far, there’s a lot to love about our city. It seems there is always something to discover—a fresh take on a craft cocktail, an eye-opening exhibit at a museum or a tasty new dish at an old mainstay. Our insiders not only know the city inside and out but also often wander off the beaten path and in doing so, come across noteworthy hidden gems.
One of our insiders said it best: “The city has artistic soul with its innovation and creativity—vibrant across many facets including art, design, food, music and lifestyle culture.”
Check out curated picks for food, drink, places, people, arts and entertainment and giving back from Shannon Gaines Bowman, Scott Heidmann and Ken Petti, Jennifer Janesko, Stacey Lukas, Kevin Marsh, Hermon Mehari, Tom and Loretta Mentzer, and David Oliver.
And then—get out and enjoy the City’s Best, KC Insider-style.
