Zocalo recently introduced a whopping 18 dishes to its lunch and dinner menus as well as fresh cocktails. Updates include new specialties, enchiladas (now made fresh per order), tacos, tortas and salads. Indulge with lobster mac and cheese or a coffee-crusted 12-ounce ribeye, served with potatoes norteño and grilled asparagus. Or opt for variety with the Mexico City Trio, featuring beef and chorizo mole, chicken divorciadas, pork and egg enchiladas and black bean puree. The revised menu also includes lighter fare, such as a grilled mahi fillet served alongside mango-habanero slaw, pico and fresh avocado portion-conscious tacos.
La Bodega’s new Leawood menu additions bring plenty of flavor to the table. Dishes such as a salad of roasted seasonal beets, Greek yogurt, arugula and crushed Marcona almond topped with Champagne vinaigrette and Manchego and the tuna tartare with red chile vinaigrette, lemon marmalade, sliced cucumber and lemon oil sound perfect for summer. And our mouths are already watering at the sound of the tapas caliente: seared scallops alongside sweet pea puree and Prince Edward Island mussles with crumbled chorizo, fennel, onion, garlic Yzaguirre Reserva dry vermouth and saffron.
Happy birthday to Westport Café & Bar! In celebration of its 5th anniversary, the restaurant has added 10 fresh dishes and five seasonally-inspired house cocktails. New items include crispy lamb terrine and charred corn and tomato soup hors d’oeuvres, a Broadway Butcher pastrami sandwich, and crispy fried chicken, lamb pappardelle and mustard braised pork shoulder entrees. New to the cocktail menu are the Gardenia, Boodles Gin, Dolin Blanc, lemon, mint and a dash of Absinthe; the Devil in Trinidad, made with Angostura 5-year rum, chili-infused Aperol, Cherry Heering and lemon; and the Consul, Famous Grouse Scotch, Mezcal Vida, Dolin Rouge, Falernum and bitters. House and classic cocktails have also rejoined the menu by popular demand.
If you still haven’t paid a visit to Cleaver & Cork, here’s your excuse: The Power & Light spot just introduced lunch 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., and the menu features many of the dinner service’s thoughtful, hearty dishes, including a beekfsteak burger with cheese curds, the slow-smoked pulled pork sandwich topped with goat cheese, barbecue sauce and a fried jalapeno, and zucchini and oyster mushroom lasagna.
Diners can now grab a morning bite at The Mixx’s recently opened Hawthorne Plaza location, which just started serving breakfast. In addition to its fresh juices, smoothies and coffees, you’ll find 10 items, including a grown up take on PB&J, a breakfast wrap with scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, mozzarella and jalapenos and the protein and sweet potato hash, a combo of over-easy eggs, sautéed sweet potatoes, roasted corn, red peppers and red onions topped with chicken, steak of tofu and served with a griddled corn tortillas.
