KC in the Spotlight

This week KC’s media mentions include ice cream, dinosaurs and Andrew Zimmern. 

You scream, I scream, CNN screams for Glacé Artisan Ice Cream. Earlier in the summer the Christopher Elbow-helmed shop earned a spot on Thrillist’s list of the country’s best ice cream shops. Now CNN is highlighting Glacé for its “chillingly original” flavors, such goat cheese and a sweet corn flavor set to arrive later this season.

The Daily Meal put together a roundup of where to eat in KC with choices ranging from expected favorites to the not-so-often considered. Both Christopher Elbow Chocolate and Glacé made the list, as did Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que and Arthur Bryant’s. La Bodega scores a rave, with the writer calling it home to “some of the best tapas you will ever have.” For sweet treats, the story recommends Strawberry Hill Povitica and Prairiefire’s Colcoa Dolce. Perhaps the most surprising entry on the list is Legends Outlets Kansas City’s T-Rex Café. With “Jurrasic World” breaking box office records, dinosaurs are certainly having a moment, and the restaurant features plenty of moving prehistoric creatures in the rainforest setting as well as sizeable portions.

And stay tuned for KC to make an appearance on the small screen. Andrew Zimmern was recently in town filming an episode of his Travel Channel series “Bizarre Foods,” and his trip included stops at Justus Drugstore, Woodyard Bar-B-Que, Joe’s Kansas City, Local Pig, Urban Provisions, Paradise Locker Meats and Q39, according to posts shared on his social media accounts.
