You already probably know The Mixx from its Power & Light and Main Street locations where it serves up fresh, housemade-to-order salads, soups, sandwiches, wraps and pasta, and now there’s more to love.
Conceptualized by owner Jo Marie Scaglia, the new flagship restaurant is the largest location yet (and the first in Kansas) with a new mid-century modern design that makes use of natural light and features signature green and white earth tones. The cool space includes a wrap-around patio, ample indoor seating and a lounge area, but of course it’s the food that has us most excited.
The Hawthorne Plaza location features The Mixx’s first in-house bakery, which will prepare items for all locations ranging from traditional cookies, cupcakes and muffins to more creative dishes as well as vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Get your Mixx fix early with a quick-serve breakfast as well as a grab-and-go menu with sandwiches and wraps starting 7 a.m. Monday – Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The breakfast menu, along with other updated offerings, will debut June 15.
The restaurant also includes a full-service coffee and juice bar with wellness shots, five smoothies, seven pressed juices and the option to create your own smoothie or juice from available ingredients. Caffeine fiends will be happy to hear Broadway Roasting Company is The Mixx’s local partner for coffee and specialty drinks, served with handcrafted syrups such as cinnamon caramel, rosemary and lavender. Hugo Tea Company teas are also available by the cup, pot and in specialty tea drinks.
Stop by and check out the new spot this week—and bring extra shoes. June 4 – 6 The Mixx is accepting gently worn or new footwear donations for people in the community who struggle with homelessness and poverty through a partnership with Elite Feet, a part of Shoe Kansas City. All diners who donate to the cause will receive a coupon for a complimentary breakfast dish or coffee.
