Heat got you down? Sip on one of these refreshing, ice-cold drinks from Snow & Company.
These crowd-pleasers are made very simply in a style similar to granitas—you don’t even need a blender.
Each recipe makes a batch of about four 10-ounce drinks. For all drinks, combine the ingredients in a metal bowl and place it in the freezer. Stir with a spoon every 10-15 minutes until it reaches a slush consistency (which usually takes about 45-60 minutes total) then serve. If you’ve got the equipment (or if you’re impatient), you can use an ice cream or gelato machine to speed the process up to 20-30 minutes.
Simple syrup for Snow & Company recipes is 1 part water and 1 part sugar heated until the sugar dissolves.
This favorite combines blueberry and raspberry in a silky smooth drink, but watch out because it packs a punch. Garnish with the blueberries from the moonshine.
- 3 1/2 ounces Junior Johnson Midnight Moon Blueberry Moonshine
- 6 1/2 ounces Chambord
- 13 1/2 ounces simple syrup
- 18 ounces fresh whole milk (mix this in with a whisk or hand blender at the end)
A classic shandy at just the right temperature is perfect for a hot day with a taste that’s just like summertime in a glass. Garnish with a slice of lemon.
- 2 ounces fresh-squeezed orange juice
- 6 ounces fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- 3 ounces of quality vodka (Snow & Co. uses 360 Vodka)
- 14 ounces of quality wheat beer (Snow & Co. uses Boulevard Brewing Co.’s Unfiltered Wheat)
- 6 ounces simple syrup
- 4 ounces water
Garnish the Snow & Company take on the classic Manhattan (named after the city’s most famous ice) with cherries from the Old Overholt infusion.
- 5 dashes Angostora Bitters
- 3 1/2 ounces Cinzano sweet vermouth
- 9 ounces Old Overholt Rye Whiskey infused with fresh cherries (see below)
- 9 ounces simple syrup
- 20 ounces water
To make cherry infused Old Overholt, place nine fresh or frozen dark cherries in 9 ounces of Old Overholt in an airtight glass jar. Let sit at least 48 hours in a cool, dark place.
