Prairiefire has become such a go-to for dining, shopping and entertainment that it’s easy to forget the Overland Park district opened just one year ago. It’s celebrating the anniversary Friday, May 29 – Saturday, May 30 with loads of great deals, plus a special fire performance by Quixotic Fusion Saturday evening.

Other special events include the Summer Bee Street Fair Saturday and Sunday at Threshing Bee, where you can get first dibs on new finds and maybe even score giveaway gifts from Mariana, Kendra Scott, Will Leather Goods, Hanky Panky and more. Fat Brain Toys is fêting the occasion with a beach party, complete with snow cones, beach toys and 20 tons of sand 6 – 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday outside the store’s doors.

Hungry for more fun? Stop by CocoBolos Friday for tacos and a margarita. Matthew Shoaf is performing 6 – 9 p.m. and in celebration of its first birthday the restaurant is donating 10 percent of day’s sales to Harvesters. Cocoa Dolce is offering deals throughout the weekend when you’re ready for dessert: Buy any coffee, tea or Italian soda and get one free; buy four chocolates and get one free; and get $1 off gelato.

Go social with your memories for a chance to win gift cards, events, parties and treats. During the festivities, use #myprairiefire to post photos of your favorite Prairiefire moments from the last year on social media or email them to [email protected].com.
