Leawood’s vibrant and eclectic restaurant and shopping district is rolling out the welcome mat for this year’s dine-around and shopping extravaganza.
More than a dozen restaurants are participating from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, including 801 Fish, Pig & Finch, Carma, RA Sushi and Gordon Biersch. Visit each for light tastings—all with one ticket.
This year’s event also features wine tastings by certified sommelier and specialist of wine Emily Harrington at Carma, where guests will sample Casalfarneto Verdicchio from Italy paired with a charbroiled shrimp lollipop topped with a white wine lemon and butter sauce, among other delights. Beer is the main attraction at Gordon Biersch, where head brewer Micah Weichert will present a beer tasting—the menu includes a Belgian Tripel paired with cheesecake topped with a fresh pear puree.
Tickets to the wine and beer tastings (sessions are 1 – 2 p.m. and 4 – 5 p.m.) are $50 per person and dine-around tickets are $20 in advance ($25 day of); get both for $65. While you’re strolling around, bid on a painting by Mike Savage or purchase T-shirts at Barkley Square. Proceeds from the out of this world benefit go toward supporting the Newhouse Women’s Shelter, providing shelter and services for domestic violence survivors.
