4 Best Bets for a Spring Date Night in Kansas City

Everybody needs a night out now and then.

Whether it’s your first date or your first in forever, the celebration of a special occasion or a way to shake things up, make it an evening to remember. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite picks for every kind of couple.

For the Adventurers

Appreciate the outdoors together zip lining through the 143-acre Adventure Zip KC park in Bonner Springs. Choose between three different courses where you can hike nature trails and soar through trees with your sweetheart. Tours start at $50 and you can book online at adventurezipkc.com.

For the Artists

When the evening is a blank canvas, try Friday date night at Red Star Studios in the Crossroads. For $50 per couple, learn to throw clay together on the potter’s wheel (and maybe recreate the steamy scene from “Ghost”) then choose one of your masterpieces to glaze and fire. Afterward, wander through galleries or sip artfully crafted frozen cocktails at Snow & Co. over small plates of snacks.

For the Foodies

Make your love sizzle at a cooking classes offered through The Culinary Center of Kansas City. Sign up to learn something simple, such as poaching eggs, or more challenging, like preparing a full gourmet meal complete with wine pairings. The first open couples classes are in May. Try “Molto Mangia,” a Sicilian-style dinner, or “A Romantic Chateaubriand Dinner” that ends sweetly with a chocolate nut gateau.

For the Romantics

Dress up for an elegant evening at YaYa’s Euro Bistro in Overland Park. Cozy up to the beautiful bar or grab a seat on the restaurant’s sun-soaked patio for a long lunch that lasts into happy hour. For a delicious dinner, start with the braised short rib arancini with a brown butter aioli, then order filet mignon served with Chianti-gorgonzola sauce and potato puree and wrap up the meal with a rich chocolate soufflé. –Amelia Arvesen
