Show Your Love During Random Acts of Kindness Week

Share a little sweetness with someone for International Random Acts of Kindness Week.

We all know that Valentine’s Day is hot on our heels. But did you know that it’s International Random Acts of Kindness Week? Take a few minutes of your day and go out of your way (and comfort zone) to brighten someone else’s.

Not sure what to do? As a not so random act, pop into RA Sushi 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11 to “Go Red” with the American Heart Association, St. Luke’s and Mix 93.3 at a free party with giveaways, complimentary appetizers and more. Then eat up: $3 from specialty martinis and Red Heart rolls benefit the AHA all day. Or head to Panera on the Plaza on Feb. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. to help raise funds for Relay For Life KCMO. Don’t forget to bring this flyer—the more people who show up to support the cause, the bigger the percentage of proceeds Panera will donate.

A few other suggestions:

Buy someone’s coffee at The Roasterie, Thou Mayest or whichever local spot you turn to for caffeine. Everyone needs coffee.

Donate your time at one of Kansas City’s many amazing charities or go online to see what supplies they need. Great Plains SPCA’s wish list includes things like towels, copy paper and cardboard can flats you might already have on hand.

Take your old books and donate them to the Kansas City Public Library.

Hand out sweet cards to all your friends to remind them how special they are, or take a cue from local subscription card company Hello Happiness and leave letters of encouragement around KC for people to find.

Get more great idea at randomactsofkidness.org and use #RAKWEEK2015 to share and tag your stories or photos on social media—you never know what other acts of kindness you might inspire.
