Single? You’re in the right place.
Kansas City came in at No. 12 on Travel + Leisure’s list of America’s best cities for single travelers, placing high thanks to its affordability and (no surprise) phenomenal barbecue, along with its craft beer—Boulevard Brewing Company and Cinder Block Brewery both received a shout out. The web-exclusive highlights Westport as the trendiest singles scene, naming Westport Ale House and Julep as go-to drinking destinations.
Results were based on survey responses ranking 38 cities on dozens of appealing qualities, including the looks of locals, shopping options and cool coffee bars, plus after-hours fun like nightclubs, dive bars and diners.
Travel + Leisure isn’t the only outlet signing KC’s praises. Yelp data from last year put Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que at No. 25 on the review site’s “Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. for 2015” list. And Elle celebrated Rye for being a restaurant where a woman calls the shots— that would, of course, be pastry chef and co-owner Megan Garrelts, who makes “pies so ethereal you’ll wonder if you’re in Kansas anymore,” according to a story in the February issue.
