Menu Updates We Can’t Wait To Try

How’s this for an early gift: some of our favorite spots in KC now have new menu items.

Westport Café & Bar’s new winter cocktail menu will warm you up no matter how low the temperature drops, whether you opt for a new classic like hot buttered rum made with Gosling’s dark rum, Angostura 5-year rum, spiced vanilla butter and hot cider or a festive returning favorite such as the Little Red Rooster, a blend of Plymouth Gin, Aperol, cinnamon, grapefruit, lemon and bitters.

‘Tis the season for winter drinks. Julep has also debuted its lineup, which includes The Fig Technique—fig-infused JTS Brown Bourbon, honey, cinnamon, lemon and hot water—and the seasonal and delicious Harvest Moon, made with Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, local apple butter, honey, cinnamon and lemon. Enjoy a boozy brunch when you pair the drinks with Julep’s recently launched brunch with mouthwatering crispy egg and cheese grits with Broadway Butcher Shop Andouille sausage, challah French toast with bourbon cream and candied pralines, and scrapple served with a 63-degree egg and griddle cakes.

Novel has a revamped cocktail menu that has us itching for an after-work drink. Which to try first, the Pretty Bird with vodka, orange and honey or the Smoking Jacket, made with rye, pineapple and bitters? On second thought, there’s really no need to choose.

New Happy Hour offerings are on the menu at Local Pig’s Westport location (formerly Bridger’s Bottle Shop). From 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, stop by for $3 American cans, $4 charcuterie, $5 apps and salads and $6 classic cocktails.

Cure your rumbling stomach with Zocalo’s new dishes. Red Chile Prawns are sure to spice up a chilly day, while hearty fare like the grilled pork porterhouse, which comes with Brussels sprouts and pepper jack mac-n-cheese, will fuel your holiday shopping. The restaurant has also added a family-style platter menu featuring popular appetizers, salads, main courses and side dishes, just in time to rescue your holiday party.

Drink in the flavors of the season with Parisi’s gingersnap and eggnog lattes or a tasty peppermint mocha, all of which were just introduced, along with mascarpone brownies and cracked pepper cheddar scones.
