Check out these special offers and events in honor of Veterans Day.
Admission to the National World War I Museum is free, and there are events scheduled throughout the day, beginning with a ceremony with Claire McCaskill, Emanuel Cleaver II, Mayor Sly James and Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders along with Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer A. Scott Berg, who will deliver the keynote address. Other events include the Walk of Honor Ceremony at 1 p.m. and a performance for the Lyric Opera Veterans Chorus at 6 p.m. Volunteers will also be at the museum sharing stories of the Great War era, making history come to life. And you’ll want to bring clothes, household items and toys for Red Racks, owned and operated by Disabled American Veterans.
KC Hopps restaurants, which include Barley’s Brewhaus, 810 Zone, 75th Street Brewery, The Blue Moose and O’Dowd’s, are offering one free entrée.
Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are saluting those who have served with a free Ultimate Burger or pulled pork sandwich at their restaurant concept, Rock and Brews in Prariefire.
Down the road, CocoBolos is celebrating veterans with a complimentary Tijuana Train Wreck (the much-loved dish from the original Coco Bolos in Manhattan, Kansas), Bolos Tacos, Bolos Cubana Sandwich or Chile Pork and Cheese Taquitos.
