Anything-But-Basic Black

Because black is still the new black.

A head to toe black ensemble, although intimidating, is anything but boring. With the proper textures and patterns, you can perfect the ultimate monochromatic outfit without feeling like you’re dressed up for Halloween. Pair these pieces with the black pieces already in your closet for an easy and elegant look.

A little bit of feather can go a long way. The gold pattern overlaying part of this Greylin feather dress ($144, from Frankly Basic), the unique straps and feathered bottom really make this LBD pop.

Don’t shy away from this smooth fabric. A staple of the 90s, velvet is making a comeback and there’s no better way to wear it than a sophisticated Rag and Bone black blazer ($595, from Standard Style).

We can’t get enough leather. With its flattering silhouette, this Vince leather dress ($577, from Feng) can be worn with black tights in the freezing weather or make a statement all on it’s own in warmer temperatures.
