A few days before the start of Kansas City Fashion Week, President Teisha Barber let us peek in her purse.
Being a smart and savvy businesswoman is a necessity for Teisha Barber, who is Kansas City Fashion Week president, Fashion Group International secretary and an interior designer for Bell/Knott by day and night.
Impeccably dressed in a chic black blazer, Barber chatted with us on a quick lunch break during her busy day to discuss what one must carry around to stay sane and on top of it for three different jobs.
Q: Describe what’s in your purse.
A: My entire life. My purse is Michael Kors and my makeup bag is Marc Jacobs for Target. Inside, I have makeup, an external hard drive, business cards, notebooks, pens—a little bit of everything. Of course my wallet and phone. I have a tape measure that I use on job sites for a lot of things. It also comes in handy for KCFW to measure runways and what not.
Q: What item can you not live without?
A: Probably my notebook because I jot everything down in it as soon as I think of it. If I didn’t have it, I would forget things because I have so much going on at once.
Q: What is your favorite item in your purse right now?
A: I am in love with my Estee Lauder lip gloss in bare glow. I just got it and I love the color. It’s nude with a hint of color and not too glossy or shiny to where it gets sticky.
Q: If you had to downsize to a clutch, what would you keep?
A: Obviously my phone. Necessary credit cards and ID. Probably lip gloss and powder. Of course business cards—if it all could squeeze in! I would say my laptop but it wouldn’t fit!
