Startups in KC have an opportunity to put their products directly into consumers’ hands, thanks to a national contest hosted by office supply giant, Staples. Here’s how it works.
Staples, with its world-class retail, online and delivery capabilities, and Fundable, the largest business crowdfunding platform with more than $130 million in commitments, are teaming up to create the first Crowd2Shelf contest that encourages small businesses and entrepreneurs to use crowdfunding to get their products and ideas out there.
The contest is simple: create a crowdfunding campaign and share, share, share. Share on Facebook, share on Twitter, share with the little old lady who lives down the street – anyone who can lend a vote to promote your campaign.
A panel of “innovation experts,” including representatives from Staples and Fundable, will select the top 25 submissions to continue in the contest. The numbers matter – contestants will be judged on the number of votes, the success of their crowdfunding campaign and the judges’ recommendations.
Entries for the contest will be accepted through Aug. 31, and the Top 25 submissions will be announced Oct. 5. Final winners, who will be announced Dec. 10, will have the opportunity to present their products to Staples’ merchandising teams for a chance to sell their products in stores and online.
