Does barbecue by another name taste as delicious?
We’ll find out this November when Oklahoma Joe’s changes its name to Joe’s Kansas City, according to the Kansas City Star.
The new name reflects the restaurant’s strong Kansas City roots. Although the first location was opened in Stillwater, Okla., in the mid-1990s, the restaurant closed when co-founder Joe Davidson sold his share in the restaurant to fellow co-founders Jeff and Joy Stehney (who recently switched places with Tivol owner Cathy Tivol for a hilarious online video). The Stehneys have operated solely in the KC area ever since.
Oklahoma Joe’s also recently announced the opening of The 180 Room, its new private dining and event space next to the Olathe location named for the perfect score in the barbecue competition where the couple got its start in the barbecue world. The venue can accommodate up to 80 guests or be broken down into two smaller rooms.
