Don’t be surprised if you spot more than a few gents looking especially dapper on Thursday, August 28. It’s National Bow Tie Day after all.
Of course, our best-known bow tie connoisseur, Mayor Sly James, doesn’t limit the look to one day a year—maybe it’s because we have some great tie designers right here in Kansas City.
Cases in point, Jordan Williams, who mixes bold colors and patterns in his Keefe Cravat collection (pictured in the left row, $39.99-$59.99, available at keefecravat.com and starting in September from Todd’s Clothiers) and Shawnee Mission East senior Noah Marsh, whose Against the Grain Bowties are hand-crafted from a variety of woods, including a special edition tie made from the old bar in the recently renovated Bluestem lounge (pictured in the right row, $40-$125, againstthegrainbowties.com).
As lovers of all things KC, we’re especially partial to the silk bow tie bearing the distinctive VisitKC logo (pictured bottom left, $25, visitkc.com), inspired by the mayor himself.
