August 24th, 6:30 pm, Oppenstein Brothers Park, 12th & Walnut
Bring a picnic basket or your favorite beverages, along with a lawn chair, and relax while listening to members of the Kansas City Guitar Society. These popular summer concerts are held in a charming and shady green space in the heart of downtown. The music is amplified for a large audience, but here’s a tip: arrive by 6:30 to score a place up front for the hour-long performance starting at 7 p.m. This evening’s concert is by David Smart, who plays everything from jazz to classical, pop to Christian music. Free, but donations are welcome.
