Kansas City Ballet Celebrates KC Dance Day

No rhythm? Don’t let that stop you from celebrating the 4th Annual KC Dance Day.

You can bust a move at free classes on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Todd Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity in honor of the occasion.

Classes for kids ages 3-8 include creative movement and pre-ballet and kids 8-11 can try children’s ballet. Those 12 and up can enjoy Zumba, Pilates Mat, Hip Hop, jazz, modern, ballet, tap and yoga classes.

The day offers other ways to celebrate too, including world dance performances representing the styles of Mexico, Greece, China, Ireland, Hawaii and others (plus world dance classes for all ages), performances for kids and short shows from local dance groups like City in Motion Dance Theatre, Seamless Dance Theatre and Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company.

You can even get a glimpse at the artists of KC Ballet rehearsing for the first performance of their season, “Alice (in Wonderland),” from 5:15-6 p.m., followed by an opportunity to meet the dancers.
