This is school as you’ve never dared imagine it: fun and filled with alcohol.
Yelp Kansas City has joined forces with local beverage marketing company The LAB for Booze School, a series of educational events that quench students’ thirst for beverage knowledge. Past topics have included Negronis at Extra Virgin and rum at the Kill Devil Club.
Matthew Eyman, senior community manager for Yelp KC, came up with the idea after giving out passes to Paris of the Plains seminars and learning that while people wanted to learn about cocktails, they needed a more basic introduction.
Thanks to the top-shelf businesses involved and creative concept, the classes are wildly popular, often selling out the same day they’re posted, and limited to just 20 students. So what has people clamoring to go back to school?
“From our perspective it’s about highlighting the women and men in the local craft beverage scene,” says LAB founder Jason Burton. “There really are a lot of talented folks in KC executing innovative ideas and producing stellar drinks. We wanted to work with shops that were also unique and had a representative that could share a lot of knowledge with the event attendees.”
We have a feeling you’ll be an A+ student.
