Take a Kansas City Staycation

Why take vacation days when you can organize a vacation in your very own backyard?

Beat work week burnout and take a unique staycation this weekend.

Feel like you’re trekking through the Amazon foliage by heading over to Powell Gardens to see the Gardens Gone Wild exhibit, featuring the work of artist Dan Ostermiller. Locate all 26 bronze animal sculptures, including a 12-foot elephant and Priscilla, a 5-foot hen. It’s also the last weekend to see hundreds of colorful butterflies free-flying out and about in the indoor conservatory, so stop by between 10 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. We promise it’s an exhibit you won’t want to miss.

Only a hop, skip and short drive away is the picturesque Stonehaus Farms Vineyard and Winery. Use their tasting card and sample wines from dry reds to semi-sweet whites before choosing a bottle to have all to yourself while you check out the views. Relaxation ensues.
