Although you might not recognize Edward Tanner’s name, you would definitely recognize his work.
A longtime partnership with J.C. Nichols put Tanner’s modernist architecture on display throughout Kansas City.
The University of Kansas graduate’s designs helped shape the aesthetic of KC through projects including the Country Club Plaza, more than 2,000 houses for developments in the Country Club District and Johnson County, Crestwood Shops and the Prairie Village Shopping Center as well as the Danforth Chapel at KU and the Linda Hall Library at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
In honor of Tanner’s local legacy, KC Magazine will present the prestigious Edward Tanner Award for overall achievement to one designer at its Design Excellence Awards, recognizing designers, architects, engineers and builders of Kansas City’s top residential projects.
The winning projects will be recognized at a luncheon and awards show at The Gallery Event Space in the Power & Light District on Friday, August 22. Get tickets to the event online now and see the stunning winners online and in the August issue of KC Magazine.
