Westport’s 816 Wants to Be Kansas City’s Future Historic Hotel

Murals provide historical context, while Westport, Country Club Plaza and other KC attractions provide the entertainment

Got guests coming to town for a wedding or family reunion? A new hotel convenient to Kansas City’s recently reborn Westport dining and entertainment district is the perfect place for them to settle in and get comfy, Kansas City style.

After a half-million dollar renovation to an existing chain hotel, the independently and locally owned 816 Hotel is now welcoming visitors to check in and check out its unique look, which pays homage to KC through floor-to-ceiling murals of historic scenes and 108 themed guestrooms boasting photos, memorabilia and design elements that represent local institutions, such as The Kansas City Zoo, The National World War I Museum, Trans World Airlines (TWA), the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, Boulevard Brewing Co., The Mutual Musicians Foundation, KC BBQ Society, and more.

816 Hotel guests will also enjoy super high-speed Internet, complimentary passes to nearby Gold’s Gym, complimentary breakfast (including a custom-omelet bar), and free shuttles to the Country Club Plaza and other nearby attractions.
