Summer Menu Updates to Try Now

Warmer temperatures require hot new menu items at some Kansas City restaurants.

We can’t wait to try out the latest additions at 801 Fish, including diver bay scallop crudo, cold pacific scorpion fish stew and monkfish corn dogs. They’re the perfect way to follow up the restaurant’s $1 oysters, served each night from 4 to 6 p.m.

New rolls are on the menu at RA Sushi now through September. Cool down with the Seared Dill Salmon Roll featuring cucumber, avocado and arugula rolled and topped with seared salmon, lemon and truffle salt, or heat things up with the Chili Shrimp Roll, a mix of kani kama crab mix and cream cheese rolled in rice and seaweed, lightly tempura battered and topped with crab, crispy shrimp, cilantro and jalapeño. Feeling tropical? The Lobster Salmon Roll is filled with lobster, mango, avocado and cucumber and piled with lobster, salmon and a lobster cream sauce.

Westport Café’s cocktail menu features a few new seasonal libations thanks to bartender Bronson Kistler. Cool down with one of five new house specialty cocktails or two new classic cocktails, The Suffering Bastard and the Bee’s Knees, a refreshing mix of Greyling Gin, honey and lemon.

Trying to spice up brunch? Taco Republic has added five new south-of-the-border style breakfast dishes plus mimosas and Bloody Marys to its offerings, which also include breakfast tacos. The Big Breakfast Burrito, which features Barbacoa, guacamole, potatoes, cheese, tostones, scrambled eggs and fresh jicama wrapped in a wheat tortilla, has us wishing it were the weekend.
