Delicious fried chicken just got a little bit easier to find for Overland Park residents.
Stroud’s, which celebrated its 80th anniversary last year, is opening a new location at 135th and Antioch July 2.
The restaurant features all of the classic dishes like fried chicken, cottage fries, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and cinnamon rolls, as well as pork chops, steaks, salmon, chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak. Wash it all down with Stroud’s own craft beer, the Chicken Choker Ale, or get it to go.
To allow the staff at the new location to prepare and train, Stroud’s hosted a series of soft-opening events that doubled as fundraisers for several local nonprofits organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, Emilie Rosebud Diabetes Research Foundation, Harvesters, Greater KC Sports Commission, Head for the Cure Foundation and the Ronald McDonald House. Each non-profit invited guests to dine at the new Stroud’s restaurant, bringing in more than 800 guests during the six events. Guests paid full price, but half of all receipts for each night were awarded to the respective charity.
Stroud’s Overland Park will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Plan your meals accordingly.
