It’s the last week to get a drink from Willie Grandison.
The beloved barman was selected to be the opening bartender at the restaurant in 1974, and he’s been working there six nights per week ever since, earning local acclaim as well as national honors. During his 40-year tenure, Willie has made drinks for Betty White, Henry Kissinger, Robert Redford, Tony Bennett, Ted Kennedy and many of us.
Friday will be his last night behind the bar, and to celebrate his retirement, The American is hosting a happy hour and passing appetizers all night. Don’t miss the opportunity to bid an “American” legend farewell.
