Friday

One of our favorite places to get pampered, Milagro Midwestern Spa & Collective, has moved to fab new location in Old Overland Park, and it’s marking the grand opening with a party. Check out the space while enjoying food, drinks and music as well as a progressive silent auction benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Celebrate Columbus Park artists at the trap Gallery from 6 to 9 p.m. this evening as part of the neighborhood’s 3rd Friday offerings. Check out painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry, woodworking, fiber, and more, as well as the Live Love Laugh fundraiser in front of the gallery, which raises money for the Haiti-Sudan Children’s Educational Fund and Mercy Beyond Borders.

Compassion for animals is always in style, but it will look better than ever in this year’s Rock the Block fashion show. Scope out the latest looks for men and women from local shops and fall for one of the adorable pooches at this high-energy fundraiser for Wayside Waifs.

Saturday

American Craft Beer Week comes to an end on Sunday, so seize the day at Waldo’s Hopfest. For a $35 general admission ticket, you’ll find more than 250 kinds of beer along with unlimited samples, beer speakers, food and live music. Bottoms up!

It’s a classic story: Boy meets girl. Girl loses shoe. Boy identifies girl by her magically conjured footwear, and they live happily ever after. But Cinderella gets a twist thanks to the KC Ballet’s production, which features a score by Sergei Prokofiev and over-the-top fun for the whole family. Make sure to catch one of Saturday’s two performances before the season draws to a close on Sunday.

Chances are you missed “the greatest jazz concert ever”, widely considered to be an improvised performance by greats like Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Bud Powell at Toronto’s Massey Hall in 1953, but you can still commemorate the show’s 60th anniversary with the American Jazz Museum’s latest Jammin’ at the Gem performance, featuring Bill Charlap and his trio of Kenny Washington and Peter Washington with special guest Jon Faddis.

Sunday

Paola’s Somerset Ridge Vineyard and Winery is going to the dogs for Wines with Canines. Enjoy music and tasty Catalan bites from El Tenedor, and find out if your dog has what it takes to become a canine good citizen, an American Kennel Club program that awards dogs that are well-behaved at home and in the community. Even if your pup doesn’t make the cut, we’re betting he’ll be a happy about the fresh air and chance to be your drinking buddy.

Dressed to the Nines offers a golden opportunity to work a retro wardrobe, a throwback to the days when fans use to don their Sunday best to take in a game. Royals players will be wearing Monarchs jerseys from the 1920s, and part of the proceeds from the 1:10 p.m. game benefit the Negro League Baseball Museum.

Find inspiration, tips and trends throughout the Symphony Designers’ Showhouse, which ends today. Top local designers have the house in tiptop shape, and the Showhouse Boutique will be filled with jewelry, art and gifts benefitting our the Kansas City Symphony. Music to our ears.
