One of our favorite events of the year is finally here. Tonight at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art you can enjoy tastings from more than 30 winemakers, food from KC’s best restaurants, cocktails from some of our favorite drinking destinations and bid on truly impressive auction items, all to benefit the beautiful museum.

Summer arrived in full force this week, but before you head to the pool or the beach, check out Sunflower Dermatology’s Sun-Block Party at Briarcliff Professional Plaza. The complimentary event includes food trucks, drinks, music by the SKUs, fire trucks, face painting, giveaways and special pricing on sun protection. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society in honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month.

Didn’t get a chance to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Monday? Unlimited margaritas await you at Margarita Ball, a fundraiser for Hope House featuring cocktails and tapas, plus a silent auction that includes vacation getaways, Chiefs suite tickets and more at Club 1000. Frosty drinking opportunities continue at the Snow & Co. after-party.

Get your exercise at REbeL’s Walk to Rebel, a fundraiser for the local nonprofit organization dedicated to battling disordered eating and helping people redefine beauty. Or pull on a tutu and run over to English Landing Park for IDDA Design Dash 5K, which benefits the KC Ballet. Registration includes a t-shirt, prizes and post-race pancakes.

Start saving room for the First Annual Kansas Food Truck Festival. Indios Carbonsitos, Richie Rich’s BBQ, Organized Chaos, KC Bobs and Wilma’s Real Good Food, among other trucks, will be gathered in Lawrence’s Warehouse Arts District from 5 to 10 p.m. Local bands are performing, and the KU Natural History Museum is providing a kid-friendly interactive exhibit.

Find the perfect present or treat yourself at two fabulous trunk shows. KC-based designer Jennifer Janesko is stopping by Clique Boutique from 12 to 4 p.m. and helping shoppers pick out the perfect pieces. At Mazzarese, you can get special offers and an up close and personal look at Todd Reed’s creations, which incorporate stunning raw, uncut diamonds, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Celebrate the day with most important woman in your life—Mom. Barrel 31 is offering a complimentary mimosa or Bloody Mary to mothers during brunch, and moms eat for free at Providence New American Kitchen on Sunday. In need of a last minute present? Check out these great gift ideas for every kind of mom.

Cheese lovers can get educated at Green Dirt Farm’s Cheese Appreciation Events. Learn the difference between cow, goat and sheep milk, and most importantly, enjoy samples of local farmstead cheeses paired with carefully selected wines.

If you’ve been watching Prairiefire progress from the street, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to finally see what’s in store. The new entertainment district is hosting a preview event all weekend long featuring local music, fun activities and a chance to visit new hot spots like Cocoa Dolce Artisan Chocolates, Wasabi Sushi Bar and Rock & Brews. (Did we mention the patio is pet-friendly?) In addition to restaurants and stores, the awe-inspiring Cinetopia is opening for a Social Media Fair where you can get free tickets and goodies in exchange for posting about your experience on social media.

Check back next week for info on more events you won’t want to miss!
