Swing by L’Ecole Culinaire on the Country Club Plaza Wednesdays or Thursdays for lunch prepared by students in the final phase of their culinary degree program at the school’s second floor Presentation Room. Savor dishes like crawfish etouffee vol au vent, jerk-rubbed roasted pork loin and yakitori chicken with soba noodles, green mangoes, Asian greens and a Thai peanut vinaigrette (shown below). The best part? All gratuities go toward helping students in need.
Students at Shawnee Mission School Districts also take to the kitchen at the Broadmoor Bistro’s weekly Wednesday dinners, and for a professional take on the culinary school dining experience you can see what the chefs at the Culinary Center of Kansas City in downtown Overland Park are cooking up during staff lunches, which are now open to the public every Tuesday. We’re betting even the most seasoned home chef will want to take notes.
