Prairiefire Turns Up the Heat With New Restaurants

Things are catching fire at Overland Park’s newest neighborhood with the opening of Rock & Brews and several other new restaurants.

Prairiefire’s entertainment district celebrates its grand opening May 9-10, but there’s plenty to look forward to before then.

Those who like their food served with a side of pop culture will want to check out Rock & Brews, a restaurant franchise created by KISS rockers Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley that features casual cuisine, international and craft beers and a pet-friendly patio. The restaurant opens today, where you can find musically-themed dishes like the Strawberry Fields salad, Margheritaville pizza and “Purple Rain” drops (chocolate filled donuts drizzled with raspberry sauce).

Simmons and Stanley will be in town to celebrate the opening of their restaurant’s first Midwest location on May 29th with a gala benefiting the Adaptive Sports Programs at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, which helps disabled veterans participate in highly specialized sporting events across the nation by providing necessary transportation and housing.

Not quite in the mood to rock and roll all night? PB&J, the restaurant group responsible for YaYa’s, is moving in with Paradise Diner and Newport Grill, a fresh seafood restaurant that brings much needed ocean flavors and an elegant nautically-inspired aesthetic to landlocked Kansas. Both restaurants are set to open May 8.
