Jackson County CASA Light of Hope Breakfast

April 9, 7:30 am – 8:30 am, Sheraton Crown Center

The national Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program has supported millions of abused and neglected children under court protection since 1977. The Jackson County CASA program has helped children in need under the Jackson County Family Court system since 1983.

The program has volunteers work with children to communicate to judges what is best for them. In 2012 and 2013, 95 percent of children with a CASA volunteer have not re-entered the court system; yet that is only one-third of the total children who could benefit from CASA’s help. Nonetheless, CASA is getting closer to reaching its goal of helping all children under child protection. Over the past four years, the program has increased the number of children it has helped by 30 percent. The increase can be attributed to an increase in donors and volunteers.

In honor of the organizations and people that have made this growth possible, Jackson County CASA is hosting the Light of Hope benefit on April 9, where it will honor the largest donor in Jackson County CASA history, KCI Auto Auction.

KCI Auto Auction has donated $51,979 to date to CASA. CASA is actually one of 13 nonprofits that KCI Auto Auction has supported over the past year through its KCI Cares Program. The corporation has fundraised through payroll deductions and special events at individual dealerships, direct donations from management and a one-day auction.

To attend the free breakfast and honor KCI Auto Auction, email lightofhope@jacksoncountycasa-mo.org or call 816-984-8217. Donations are encouraged.
