Three KC Chefs Nab Nominations for Food & Wine Award

Three local chefs are in the running for a culinary honor and you can help one of them win.

Chef Carl Thorne-Thomsen of Story

Ryan Brazeal of Novel, Patrick Ryan of Port Fonda and Carl Thorne-Thomsen of Story are all vying for the title of Food & Wine Magazine’s People’s Best New Chef: Midwest.

Thorne-Thomsen won last year, beating out fellow nominee Ryan, but Brazeal is on the list of up-and-coming chefs for the first time.

We can’t say we didn’t see the honor coming. We recently picked Brazeal as KC’s Chef to Watch, chose Thorne-Thomsen as Chef of the Year and put Patrick Ryan on our list of the city’s top food stars.

While this year’s local James Beard Award nominees ultimately didn’t take home any hardware, you can help make sure one of these chefs nabs the award from Food & Wine (which also just named the Westside’s Fervere one of America’s best bread bakeries) since the winner is chosen based on votes.
