Michael Smith is no stranger to accolades, and now he’s got yet another award to add to his collection.
Nation’s Restaurant News has named him the Chef Innovator of the Year.
Smith, who the website called “a standard-bearer for culinary excellence for the past 20 years,” came to Kansas City to work as the executive chef at The American and became the first KC chef to win a James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Midwest. He later opened Forty Sardines, his eponymous fine dining restaurant and tapas spot Extra Virgin. Smith also serves as the executive chef of SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza, giving KC diners plenty of places to celebrate his tasty trailblazing achievements.
