While we’d never turn down a bouquet of roses, it’s always nice to see flowers live a fashionably long life.
That’s why we’re feeling invigorated by Skala Designs’ “Full Bloom” necklace ($328, from Blue Bouquet in the Crossroads), a combination of rose quartz, vintage crystals and faux petals on a gold-plated chain that’s pretty enough to pick.
Local jewelry designer Amani Skalacki, whose artful work can also be spotted at Blue Gallery in the Crossroads, hand-cuts the petals from recycled fabric, then dyes them using wine, spirits and spices to use in her aptly named “Drunken Blooms” collection.
The one-of-a-kind pieces also incorporate vintage jewelry components, antique buttons and crystal beads. Wine, flowers and vintage jewelry? Sounds like the perfect combination to us. –Kelsey Cipolla
