Spices and artisan kitchen goods are the main ingredients for a new shop at 63rd and Oak.
Cookery enthusiasts have a new go-to destination in Kansas City. Season + Square, which opened recently in the Brookside neighborhood, offers a well-curated selection of quality, artisan products that take kitchen basics to a new level. Think Williams-Sonoma, but on a smaller, more personal scale. The centerpiece of the shop is Season + Square’s own-labeled spices, herbs and seasoning mixes, which are also available to purchase in bulk. The shop also offers beautifully crafted cooks’ necessities, such as handmade Mac Cutting Boards, Red Rooster Trading Company pepper grinders and R. Murphy Knives.
Even non-cooks will find things to love at Season + Square, such as Askinosie chocolates, Galloway Farms jams, and Wondermade gourmet marshmallows in flavors such as Guinness, bourbon and champagne—perfect for hostess gifts or just treating yourself.
Owner Andrea Morrow Joseph says she also plans to offer cookery demonstrations and workshops on subjects like how to blend spices. For those who really love to cook, there’s a Season + Square Founders Membership, which offers product discounts, access to private events and first notice of classes and farm-to-table dinners. The $75 membership is only available through March 1, so get to Season + Square chop-chop.
