Charley Harper + Todd Oldham = A Great Catch

A light-hearted theme for serving up the season’s lighter dishes

Fashion and interior designer Todd Oldham is known for his quirky, sometimes kitschy style, so it’s little surprise he found himself inspired by the whimsical work created by midcentury artist Charley Harper.

But Oldham’s appreciation for Harper’s style goes well beyond simply being inspired by him, he’s done a lot to help others rediscover his talent too. Oldham published a retrospective of Harper’s prints in 2007, and since then has worked with the Harper estate to apply the late artist’s work to new audiences.

His latest project, Harper + Oldham, is a collaboration homeware company Fishs Eddy, featuring Harper’s colorful, carefree designs on a range of dishes, glasses and serveware. We think this “Fish and Waterfall” ceramic tray, available at the General Store & Co. in downtown Overland Park, is perfect for serving up the new season’s lighter dishes.
