Co-founder of Greenovate Construction
At the age of 13, Catalina Campos came to the United States with her parents as a Colombian refugee. The life she’d experienced in Colombia and the poverty she witnessed instilled a drive in her to achieve the American dream. Today, she’s making that dream come true.
In the last three years, she left a job at the Colombian Embassy to found three startups, including Greenovate Construction.
In executing Campos’ views for the company, Greenovate was able to grow from a simple concept to a concrete plan and house. She has created a strategic alliance with Kansas City’s leading green architecture firm, which allowed her to sell the first house on plans and secure future funding.
As a part of the company’s vision, she is working to create a way to build affordable, sustainable and low-maintenance housing.
“Her promotion of women and youth involvement in Kansas City’s entrepreneurial market show her selflessness and passion for others, says Adrienne B. Haynes, business development manager for Blue Hills Community Center.
