All aboard! Rudy and Santa arrive at Kansas City’s Union Station

Sprint Festival Plaza, December 18th – 22nd, Union Station

That’s right – Santa Claus is coming to town!

Experience Christmas spirit by talking to Santa Claus himself and exploring his Holiday Express train, brought to Kansas City by KCS Southern Belle business train. In 1997, the Gateway Western Santa Train began spreading holiday cheer throughout Missouri. This tradition was enriched in 2001, when volunteers who wanted to ensure all children could partake in the festivities spent over 8,000 hours transforming retired rail cars into holiday fantasies full of youthful wonder, music and fun. Ever since then, Santa has been celebrating Christmas in eight states, bringing holiday cheer and donations for children’s clothing to local Salvation Armies with him wherever he goes.

Complete with “Rudy” the smiling tank car, Santa’s sleigh, reindeer, a gingerbread boxcar, the elves’ workshop, a miniature village and more, touring the Holiday Express train is fun for the whole family. Free tours are available from Wednesday, Dec. 18 through Sunday, Dec. 22, however, reservations are highly encouraged and can be made through Union Station at UnionStation.org.
