So You Think You Can Skate?

Kansas City now has two outdoor ice rinks to choose from. Still, the appeal of the original is undeniable.

It’s not a reality show yet, but we think there’s potential there for area skaters to show off their skills at Kansas City’s first public, outdoor ice skating rink. The rink opens for its 41st season on November 1, 2013 and runs through January 2014. Be sure to stretch and limber up and watch for the youngsters racing past.

Before you glide across the ice like the next Michelle Kwan, drop by the Crown Center shops for some loose leaf tea at Shang Tea Company to brew at home or grab some treats at Chip’s Candy Factory.

Regular admission is $6, or free for adults over age 60 and children age 4 and under. Skate rental is $3, or skaters may bring their own.

Skaters age 12 and under must be under the supervision of a parent or guardian (21 or older).
