Terry Swope and Baja Roadie: Chill in Parkville

“Baja Roadie is our Chihuahua, Baja for his background, Roadie as he was found on the road and used to ride with my wife on her Harley,” Terry says.

I had actually left the scene and started to drive away from downtown Parkville, but the iconic nature of the image had already bored itself into my mind. U-turn in the middle of Highway 9.

They were both in grey and black with a touch of red, this endearing dog perched on the lap of a kindly-looking gentleman puffing on a see-gar.

“We found Baja on a cold rainy day in a kennel with a large dog and no shelter. We didn’t have intentions for keeping him but he found a way into our hearts.”

Life is good for Baja, a ten-year-old rescue dog and for his owner.

“CEO of my own company. Married 41 years to my childhood sweetheart. Love anything on two wheels. Basic gear head who loves guitars.

“My life is better than I deserve.”
