City’s Best: Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

This year’s Best Gallery/Museum is adding our award to an already lengthy list of accolades.

In under a decade, the Nelson-Atkin’s Bloch Building addition has landed the Museum on numerous top 10 lists—including Best New and Upcoming Architectural Marvels and World’s Most Beautiful Buildings—in publications from across the globe.

The Museum’s internationally acclaimed collection is comprised of more than 33,500 works of art that stretch across continents, artistic movements and cultures. Works by Caravaggio, Picasso, Monet and Van Gogh adorn the walls, and the Nelson-Atkin’s collection of Asian art has earned worldwide respect. Have lunch in sunny Rozzelle Court, join a Thursday cocktail hour in the Bloch Lobby or stroll through the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Garden and watch as newlyweds snap photos on the Shuttlecock-laden lawn.

Best of all—the museum is always free.
