Chef Colby Garrelts and his wife Megan impress more than just Kansas Citians with their flair with flavorful comfort food, winning our Best New Restaurant category.

Not only were they in the running, but Rye won thanks to the people around town that nominated and voted during two rounds for this welcome addition to the city’s restaurant scene. Rye offers a chef’s take on Midwestern comfort food ranging from fried chicken to pickled vegetables to cornbread and steak. The desserts are homespun and satisfying; the selection of wine, cocktails and craft beers is superb and Rye’s patio is the ultimate outdoor gathering spot in Mission Farms, good weather permitting.
