Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City announced today that Andrea Umbreit has been named Director of Development.
Umbreit will oversee the Arts Council’s development efforts, working alongside the entire Arts Council team to fulfill the organization’s mission of advancing and supporting the arts for the benefit of the Kansas City region.

Umbreit will focus on strengthening and expanding the Arts Council’s partnerships with volunteers, donors, and the business community, building mutually beneficial relationships that have positive and lasting impacts on the community.
“Andrea brings with her an incredible wealth of development experience that makes her a dynamite addition to the Arts Council’s development efforts,” said Harlan Brownlee, Arts Council President and CEO. “She has achieved wonderful success with development initiatives ranging from youth development to the environment to oral health, and we are thrilled for her to bring her passion to the arts.”
Before joining the Arts Council, Umbreit served as Director of Marketing and Communications for Smiles Change Lives, Special Gifts Manager at Rose Brooks Center, and Development Director at Youth Opportunities Unlimited.
Previously a personal chef and caterer, Andrea expresses her artistic talents in the kitchen. She holds a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis and an MPA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
